Istanbul Medeniyet University Africa Health Studies Application and Research Center (MASAM) continues its efforts for medical specialty training in Africa. Under the coordination of MASAM, in cooperation with Istanbul Medeniyet University and Somaliland Amound University, a medical specialty training program is being launched in the departments of Anatomy and Physiology within the Faculty of Medicine of Amoud University.
MASAM continues to contribute to health education in the region by opening new specialties within the scope of the medical specialty training program it has been conducting for years. Within the scope of this project, it is aimed to strengthen the basic medical sciences staff of Amoud University by providing specialty training in Anatomy and Physiology.
“Qualified medical education is aimed”
Prof. Dr. Orhan Alimoğlu, President of MASAM, emphasized that basic medical sciences have a critical importance in education and said, “With these training programs, we aim to fill the shortage of faculty members in basic medical sciences at Amoud University and contribute to the development of qualified medical education in the region.”
The new programs will be conducted by Prof. Dr. Çağatay Barut, Head of the Department of Anatomy at Istanbul Medeniyet University, and Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Kılıç from the Department of Physiology. During the training process, the aim is to strengthen international academic cooperation, support scientific infrastructure and make specialty training sustainable.
MASAM officials stated that they aim to increase global knowledge sharing in medical education, contribute to the development of the health system in Africa and train future physicians with scientific equipment.
