The results have been announced for 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which was launched by the University of Indonesia in 2010 and has since become the leading green campus and environmental sustainability ranking worldwide. Istanbul Medeniyet University is ranked 736th among 1477 universities worldwide in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, to which it applied for the second time this year. Our University ranked 76th among 120 universities in Turkey's general ranking, while among the 6 categories in which the environmental initiatives of universities are evaluated, it is ranked 243rd in the world and 21st among the universities in our country in the “Waste” category, and 412th in the world and 37th in Turkey in the “Education & Research” category.
In 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, where environmental commitments and initiatives of universities from all over the world have been assessed using a total of 51 indicators in 6 categories, our University has achieved remarkable success in the Waste and Education & Research categories. Scoring 1500 points out of 1800 in the Waste category, IMU ranks 21st among the 120 universities from Turkey in this category. In the Education and Research category, which is our second most successful category, our University scored 1475 points out of 1800 and ranked 37th in Turkey.
In the “Water” category, one of the main areas in which we have made significant progress compared to 2023, when we applied to the ranking for the first time, our University has managed to add 640 points out of 1000 to last year's score and ranked 539th in the world and 44th in Turkey in this category.
