World SCI Day Event by our Faculty of Medicine
Getting a spinal cord injury (SCI) is the most devastating event in a person’s life. Spinal cord injury and the resultant paralysis has devastating physical, mental, social, sexual and vocational consequences for the injured.
In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) suggested 5th September as “World Spinal Cord Injury Day” and since then, this day has been observed every year in 35 countries with simultaneous events. This year’s theme for the World SCI Day is “Living Life to the Fullest”. The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of IMU Faculty of Medicine organized a World SCI Day event, in which five individuals with spinal cord injury who live life to the fullest (Ramazan Baş, Nil Mısır, Emriye Kaya, Suphiye Dağ, Murat Öz) were invited as speakers.
