We Shift to Distance Education at our University

21.03.2020

Previously suspended between 16 March - 05 April 2020 as per the Presidential decree, educational activities at our University have now been resumed on March 23, 2020, pursuant to the announcement of the YÖK Presidency on distance education, dated 18.03.2020. Likewise, in line with the subsequent announcement of YÖK, dated 26.03.2020, our University will continue all teaching activities through distance education for the remainder of the Spring semester of the Academic Year 2019-2020. At all academic units of the University theoretical courses will be taught to the students on digital platforms during the rest of the semester.

In this context, right before the start of the distance education process, all academic staff were offered training through manuals and videos, and students were informed via e-mail and SMS. Furthermore, by means of the relevant announcements on the web pages, we released guides and videos about the platforms used in distance education.

In addition, our University’s distance education processes also takes into consideration our disabled students, with the internet infrastructure being used to allow for following up the theoretical courses, which are recorded to watch later again. The calendar of exams and student assessment is to be announced later, and preparations are currently under way to enable exams on digital platforms, provided that the exam process “is recorded to allow for legal inspection”. Last but not least, applied education sessions will later be organized at the earliest opportunity by means of an intensive academic calendar.
