Participating for the second time this year in the Hyperloop Development Competition organized for the first time in 2022 as part of TEKNOFEST Aerospace and Technology Festival of Türkiye, our university's ROTA Team achieved significant success with their innovative vehicle design based on magnetic levitation technologies. Team ROTA, which consists of 15 students from various departments of our Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, ranked 10th among 19 universities in this year's competition.
Our students designed a sustainable and high-performance vehicle by integrating advanced technology systems such as linear engine and magnetic levitation for the project. With this project, which aims to both increase speed and optimize energy efficiency and to turn the potential of hyperloop into reality, they have made a significant contribution to the goal of moving our country to a leading position in the transportation technologies of the future.
Team ROTA has continued to work with great determination to realize the potential of Hyperloop technology by combining their engineering passion and creativity. The vehicle they exhibited at the competition was a concrete example of this vision.
Support Visits to Our Students
At the TEKNOFEST Hyperloop Development Competition held in Kocaeli on 13 - 17 August 2024, Selçuk BAYRAKTAR, Baykar Chairman of the Board of Directors, visited the stand of Team ROTA, which represented our university in the competition. BAYRAKTAR examined the projects developed by our students on site, received information about their work and supported them.
TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL, who visited many booths in the competition area throughout the week, also visited our students, emphasized the importance of Hyperloop projects and wished the team success.
Toward the end of the week of the competitions, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Kürşat AYAN, General Manager of Medeniyet Teknopark Ali Ramazan TAK, Asst. Prof. Dr. Filiz Gürkan GÖLCÜK, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Deputy Secretary General Ali POLAT visited Team ROTA and received information about the projects and wished them success.
About Hyperloop Development Competition
The Hyperloop Development Competition, organized by TÜBİTAK within the scope of TEKNOFEST, aims to raise awareness among undergraduate and graduate students about magnetic levitation (suspension) technologies, to develop innovative transportation vehicles in which the effect of the friction factor is reduced, and to provide students with knowledge on new-generation transportation technologies. The competition is also organized to develop hyperloop technologies with practical applications by encouraging teamwork and to lead the formation of competent human resources in this field.
