Our Rector and Senate Members Participate in the Higher Education Academic Year Opening Ceremony

2019-2020 Academic Year was opened on 18 September 2019, Wednesday with a ceremony held at the Presidential Complex Congress and Cultural Center in Ankara. Speaking at the 2019-2020 Higher Education Academic Year Opening Ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan first wished an auspicious and successful new academic year for all teachers and students.

Noting that Turkey has made great progress in higher education particularly in the last seventeen years, President Erdoğan said: “This progress is evident in the fact that the number of universities in Turkey has risen from 76 to 207, the number of academic staff members from 70 thousand to 168 thousand, and the number of students from 1.6 million to 8 million.” Erdoğan also underlined that education has always been among their top priorities and said: “From our academic staff and teachers and administrators of public and private education institutions to our students and parents, our hearts and ears are open to everyone who has something to say about education.”

Our University was represented in the 2019-2020 Higher Education Academic Year Opening Ceremony by Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Sarıoğlu, and Senate members including Prof. Dr. İbrahim Subaşı, Dean of our Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Hasan Küçükkolbaşı, Dean of our Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Hamdi Genç, Dean of our Faculty of Political Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Ali Tan, Dean of our Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture.
