Prof. Faruk Bal, Dr. Mustafa Özarslan, District Governor of Kadıköy, Murat Sefa Demiryürek, District Governor of Üsküdar, Hilmi Türkmen, Mayor of Üsküdar, Onur Temurlenk, Vice Mayor of Kadiköy, and hundreds of guests.

Opening of the event was preceded by a pleasant concert by our student M. Davut Kılıç and was followed by the procession of our 300 alumni students of 2018-2019 academic year, who were invited to the site by their faculties.

Following the National Anthem, our guests watched the Graduation Film. The opening speech of the event was delivered by Yasemin Denizli, our student who has graduated as the top student of our University and the Faculty of Medicine in 2018-2019 academic year. Denizli expressed her pride for speaking on behalf of all of her classmates as a member of Istanbul Medeniyet University and stated that she will bear the identity of being a Medeniyet member with pride. Then, Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik presented her diploma and gift and congratulated her.

In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik expressed his pleasure in organizing our third graduation ceremony and said that founded in 2010, our University has now become a well-established scientific institution. He underlined that this claim can be most clearly seen in how our academic and administrative staff has embraced our mission; the knowledge, skills, and competence acquired by our students in our university; the support lent by the central and local government units to our university at various levels; and our closeness to our external stakeholders, which include non-governmental organizations, private sector enterprises, and the parents of our students.

Our Rector emphasized that we have been improving our infrastructure in three important areas that could distinguish our university, which has to do with our efforts to become “a competitive university” aiming for international standards; “a university that is active 24/7” as it perceives life as a whole; and “a social university” that lives by the principle of social responsibility and is one with the public.

He said: “We firmly anchor one foot of our cause for science and knowledge in our region and roots and with the understanding that ‘The world is much bigger than give’, we are walking toward the future with 11 Faculties and one Institute of Graduate Studies; 57 undergraduate programs, 55 master’s programs; and 23 doctoral programs; 6000 undergraduate students, 750 master’s students; and 120 doctoral students.”

Our Rector’s speech was followed by the greeting speeches delivered by Hilmi Türkmen, Mayor of Üsküdar, Murat Sefa Demiryürek, District Governor of Üsküdar, Dr. Mustafa Özarslan, District Governor of Kadıköy, and Onur Temurlenk, Vice Mayor of Kadıköy.

Our successful students who graduated as the top scoring students of their faculties and departments were invited to the stage one by one and received their diplomas from our Rectors, our honorable guests, and their valued instructors. During the most significant moments of the day, all our students threw their caps in front of the stage, enjoying the pride and happiness of graduating.

The Graduation Ceremony ended with refreshments served to our guests.
