Nonpharmacological Pain Management in Pediatric Patients Course Completed

The course “Nonpharmacological Pain Management in Pediatric Patients”, organized as a hybrid event on 7-8 November 2024 at Istanbul Medeniyet University Göztepe North Campus, was successfully completed. Supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2237-A Scientific Training Activities Support Program, the course was conducted by Prof. Dr. Aynur Aytekin Özdemir, a faculty member of Istanbul Medeniyet University Department of Nursing, Division of Pediatric Nursing. It aimed to contribute to the specialization of graduate students in pediatric pain management.

The course was attended by a total of 100 trainees, 20 face-to-face and 80 online, from 33 different universities in Turkey, who are postgraduate students in Pediatric Nursing. In the training program, 14 expert lecturers from 12 leading universities of our country took part.

During the course, the importance of non-pharmacological pain management techniques in pediatric patients, their effectiveness, application recommendations and their use in research were comprehensively discussed. The event attracted a great deal of interest from graduate students as detailed training was given on the physical methods, cognitive-behavioral techniques and supportive methods used in pain management.

As local organizing committee members who played an important role in the organization of the course, Prof. Dr. Aynur Aytekin Özdemir, Res. Asst. Büşra Kütük and Res. Asst. Özge Şanlıtürk provided the necessary support to the participants to ensure that the event took place flawlessly and were in constant communication during the course.
