IMU TOMER Certificate Program Starts with Prof. Hayati Develi's Opening Lecture
Certificate Program of Teaching Turkish for Foreigners organized by TÖMER started with the opening lesson in Aşık Paşa conference hall on Monday, June 17. The opening lecture was delivered by Prof. Hayati Develi, former Director of Yunus Emre Institute and Dean of the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University. In his opening speech, Prof. Develi noted that the adventure of Turkish as a foreign language started in the 11th century with Divan u Lügâti’t- Türk, which was written by Mahmud al-Kashgari with the aim of teaching Turkish to Arabs.
The second seminar of the day was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ahmet N. Çiçekler, who shared information on the importance and methods of grammar and vocabulary teaching in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
The two-week program will continue with the contributions of valued academicians who contribute to the field with their academic studies and in-depth experience.
