İstanbul Medeniyet University, whose mission is to bring scientific knowledge production to a universal level and increase international academic interaction, hosted a delegation of academics from the University of Zaragoza and the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain. During the visit on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, an academic collaboration protocol was signed between İstanbul Medeniyet University and the University of Zaragoza.

The meeting held at the Rector's Office was attended by Istanbul Medeniyet University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül, Secretary General Ali Ramazan Tak, International Corporate Communications Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nagehan Ersoy Tunalı, and Faculty of Arts, Design, and Architecture Professor Dr. Özlem Oğuzhan. From the Spanish delegation, Rafel Arnal Rodrigo, Eva Fernández Palop, Chele Esteve Sendra, and Ana Tomás Miralles participated.

The comprehensive cooperation agreement signed by Secretary General Ali Ramazan Tak covers many areas, from student and academic exchange programs to joint research projects. Furthermore, in line with ongoing plans with the Polytechnic University of Valencia, an agreement was reached to sign a similar protocol in the coming spring semester.

These collaborations are not limited to specific fields but also adopt an interdisciplinary approach. Designed to be open to the participation of academics and students from different fields, this partnership structure encompasses all academic disciplines, from art and design to natural sciences, educational sciences, and engineering.

During the visit, the book of the international "Palimpsest Project," in which Prof. Dr. Özlem Oğuzhan is also involved, was presented, and views were exchanged on new studies and plans that are a continuation of the current project.

Thanks to this signed protocol, inter-institutional knowledge and experience sharing has been strengthened, creating new academic opportunities on a global scale for students and academics. This strategic step deepens the scientific ties between the two countries and paves the way for interdisciplinary projects to be carried out on an international scale.
