The training program for teachers, carried out within the framework of the Cevher Children Project, which is part of the cooperation protocol signed between Istanbul Medeniyet University and Gebze Municipality for the “Enriched Education Program Application Project for Gifted Children (IMÜZEP),” has been successfully completed. A ceremony to present participation certificates to teachers who received training under the project was held on February 18, 2026, at the IMU Central Library Meeting Hall.
Certificates of participation were presented to teachers who successfully completed the week-long training program by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik. The ceremony was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Sevimli, and the project coordinator and Head of the Special Education Department, Prof. Dr. Marilena Z. Leana Taşcılar.
Speaking at the opening session of the program, our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül, emphasized the project's contribution to the education of gifted students and thanked the teachers for their participation.
As part of the training program, Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Marilena Z. Leana Taşcılar provided information about the characteristics of gifted students, educational models, intelligence theories, and the infrastructure of the IMÜZEP program. During the program, teachers participated in courses taught by Asst. Prof. Dr. Berrin Onurlar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ertürk Erdağı, Asst. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Hakkı Bulut, Research Assistant Yasin Saygılı, Asst. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Bektaş, Research Assistant Dr. Emre Köroğlu, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Faruk Çağlar, and Research Assistant Afra Selcen Taşdelen, project executives in the fields of gastronomy, numismatics, philosophy, artificial intelligence, creativity, software, life skills, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Technical support during the project was provided by project assistant Yasemin Arslan.
The training program contributed to enhancing teacher competencies in educating gifted students and served as a concrete example of university-local government collaboration.
