Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Education Sciences organized a meaningful social responsibility event to raise cancer awareness in the society within the scope of April 1-7 National Cancer Week. On April 22, 2025, an information stand was set up in the entrance foyer of Block B to raise cancer awareness, followed by an awareness seminar in the Red Hall.
The event was organized by the Faculty of Education Sciences, Department of Basic Education, Division of Preschool Education in collaboration with the Foundation for Children with Leukemia (LÖSEV). Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences Prof. Dr. Eyüp Sevimli and Vice Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Aksoy also took part in the event.
At the Cancer Awareness Stand, volunteer students introduced the activities of LÖSEV and informed about the importance of early diagnosis. Information was given about the free services offered by LÖSEV to individuals with leukemia and cancer and their families.
In the seminar in the Red Hall, Şeyda Doğru, LÖSEV FAYDA Project Officer, gave information about the volunteering activities carried out at universities within the scope of the project. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of students gaining social responsibility awareness and actively using this awareness in the field.
The event contributed to raising awareness about cancer among the participants and provided an experience for students to improve social sensitivity.
